Japanese Rose BI – Tancho is a rose with a quiet strength and a clear presence. It radiates balance, dignity, and elegance without being extravagant. This is a rose that does not demand attention but naturally commands respect.
Tancho feels restrained and powerful at the same time – exactly the tension in which Japanese aesthetics are so strong.
The meaning of the name
Tancho (丹頂) refers in Japan to the Japanese crane with the red crown mark (Tancho-zuru). This bird symbolizes happiness, loyalty, dignity, and a long life. The red accent on an otherwise calm appearance makes Tancho a powerful and recognizable symbol.
That symbolism fits perfectly with this rose: controlled, stylish, and with a subtle but powerful accent.
Japanese rose with balance and calm
Tancho is part of the Japanese Rose BI selection from Belle Epoque.
BI (美) stands for beauty in the Japanese sense: harmony, peace, and meaning. Tancho represents the element of dignity and silence within this collection.
This is not a rose of contrasts, but of balance.
Experience in the garden
Japanese Rose BI – Tancho comes into its own beautifully in gardens where peace and structure are important.

Roses in pots
A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for root growth. This makes the potted rose ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May through October.
Roses with bare roots
Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants delivered without a pot or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in open ground. The best time to plant a root rose is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature mild.
At Belle Epoque we supply bare-root roses from November through April. Thanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and bloom-rich bushes or climbing roses.
Products are shipped directly from the nursery every Monday and Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimise our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
